School Rehabilitation Program

Overview

YPDR is working to rebuild schools on Bantayan Island by clearing debris, re-roofing classrooms, repairing electricity and using storm resistant shipping containers to replace completely damaged classrooms.

Accomplishments

  • Returned 19 classrooms to operational status at Santa Fe High School , Santa Fe Elementary School, Guiwanon Elementary School, Sungko Elementary School and Obo-ob Integrated School.
  • Re-commissioned 2 wells in Santa Fe Elementary School.
  • Reconstructed the canteen at Santa Fe Elementary.
  • Removed 4 hazardous structures from Santa Fe Elementary and Santa Fe High School.
  • Constructed two 18.58 sq. meter gardens at Santa Fe High School.
  • Painted 10 classrooms in Santa Fe High School, Santa Fe Elementary School, and Guiwanon Elementary School.
  • Repaired 6 bathrooms and 7 CR sinks in Santa Fe High School.
  • Painted 5 rooftops in Sungko Elementary School.
  • Made and cleaned 37 garden boxes in Santa Fe High School, Sungko Elementary School, Obo-ob Integrated School.
  • Built 2 concrete pathways Santa Fe High School, Sungko Elementary School.
  • Removed over 100 truckloads of debris, in excess of 50 tons, from Santa Fe High School and Santa Fe Elementary.
  • Removed 13 damaged trees from Santa Fe High School and Santa Fe Elementary.
  • Built new hollow block wall and rehabilitated an educational garden at Sungko Elementary School.
  • Rehabilitated a permaculture educational garden in Obo-ob Integrated School.
  • Cleaned out 3 classrooms, cleaned 50 desks and 75 chairs at Pooc Elementary School
  • Cleared out 200 boxes of textbooks from storage at Santa Fe Central Elementary School
  • Cleaned school clinic and painted wall at Madridejos Elementary School
  • Built a brand new 3 classroom building at Santa Fe High School in partnership with PAH
