Can journalists travel to Timor-Leste? The simple answer is that yes they can as the country has string democratic institutions, as well as an extremely free press. What is slightly harder for journalist travel to the country is based around logistics, lnaguyeg and meeting people.

Logistical problems in Timor-Leste
Despite the riches of Timor-Leste the country remains extremely underdeveloped. As well as lacking in infrastructure. This makes even simply things like hiring a car and driver almost impossible without connections.
A second problem is a lack of trained tour guides, or even people with proficient English. Yet while the country is lacking in both these areas, they are services that we at YPDR can offer for journalists traveling to Timor-Leste.

With Timor-Leste being a relatively small country, there are just 1.3 million people here, it largely makes speaking to government members the like more approachable than in other countries.
